Chatsworth House

I had the great pleasure of visiting Chatsworth at Christmas the other weekend and I had a wonderful time! It’s the Devonshire family’s ancestral seat right in the heart of the Peak District, Derbyshire and they have decked the halls and set up a Christmas market in the grounds.
The Cavendish family have called it home since way back in the 1550s. The house looked stunning with all the festive decorations, it really put me in a Christmassy mood. My phone’s ancient and the camera’s pretty rubbish, but I hope I managed to snap a few decent pics!
Some interesting filming info!
You will probably recognize the house from the many TV and film productions that have used it as a location. Here are just some of them:
The Duchess - 1998 film biography of the English aristocrat Georgiana Spencer Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire.
Pride and Prejudice- filmed as Mr Darcy’s residence in the 2005 movie. Some people believe Jane Austen based her idea of Pemberley on Chatsworth House.
The Wolfman - the 2010 film took five weeks of filming and a lot of added vines, creepers and crumbling statues to render Chatworth unrecognisable for the horror scenes!
Death Comes to Pemberley - 2013 BBC 1 sequel to Pride and Prejudice, used as a romantic backdrop.
Peaky Blinders - 2014 tv series where Chatsworth was used to film as the backdrop to a story plot.
